What's This Blog All About?

This is a really fair question! What can you expect to get from me if you get this newsletter in your email box? Let's be honest, we all get more than enough email, so I really want this to be useful to you and maybe a little bit of entertainment as well.
I am constantly watching the science and medical news for new ways to help keep patients healthy and recover from illness and injury. I also watch for influencer trends that aren't healthy, like rubbing a watermelon on your skin and hoping it'll work as sunscreen (spoiler alert: it doesn't).
One thing I'm really interested in is the psychology of the nudge. Richard Thaler is a Nobel Prize winning economist who was a pioneer of behavioral economics. He helped us understand why people don't always act rationally, or why you'll eat the candy bar instead of the salad even thought we know the salad is better for us. It's not because we're stupid, it's
because the world is hard. By using tiny nudges, we can actually hijack our brains to help us make better choices become easier in our lives. The book is a great read https://a.co/d/09jr8Lz5
I love books and podcasts and articles and all sorts of ways to interact with the world, so stay tuned here for links to what I listened to that caught my attention, a fun article that helps us understand our bodies better, or just a random bit of information that you can use to entertain people at your next party.
When I see these sorts of things, I'll give you a quick summary in easy to understand language so you can understand how to use what you're seeing in your life. Information is freely available, but unfortunately, it's really hard to know what are reputable sources and when you should be skeptical. I'll talk a lot about science and how it works to answer problems, and I'll tell you where there are questions and uncertainties.
I'll suggest different products that I use in my life and give you the reasons behind why I've chosen these particular products. Everything that I talk about are things that I personally use after investigating, and I'll even give you a rundown on how I think they're doing with their scientific basis as well. I also promise to be transparent if there is a financial incentive for me to recommend a certain product, like an affiliate link or a commission.
I'll also throw in articles on trending topics in health news, partly because I want you to stay healthy but mostly because science is fun. Stand by for information on blue tailed skinks, how red headed people and chestnut mares are similar, and easy tweaks that you can change in your life to be a tiny bit healthier.
