What About School?

Dr. McGowan grew up in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and graduated from South Umpqua High School.

She then attended college at the US Air Force Academy, earning the designation of Distinguished Graduate by graduating in the top 5% of her class as well as her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001. She loves to nerd out about all of the biology stuff, so be warned when you ask her questions. You might get more than you bargained for!

After college, Torree attended Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. She graduated with her Medical Doctorate (MD) in 2005.

She completed residency training in emergency medicine through the San Antonio Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. She has maintained board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 2009.

She then completed her training in obesity management in 2025 and earned board certification through the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
